More Yellow!

I'm still obsessed with the colour yellow. How cool is this bicycle!

Excellent summer bag...

These wedges would be so nice with a denim skirt or channeling Daisy Duke in denim cut offs and the soft suede looks comfy too...result!

Best Blush

I'm a bit tired today so I have liberally applied some of this cult blusher; Orgasm by Nars. As the name implies, it imparts a healthy glow! It's somewhere between a pink and a peach with a little gold iridescence to help high light and brighten any dullness that may be lurking. It is one of the best selling products by NARS and rightly so; it works. Apply it from the apples of the cheeks out towards the hairline but don't keep your brush on the skin all the way...flick it off into the air as you pass over the highest point of the cheek bone for glowy loveliness.

Shoe Envy

I love these shoes. They are the Pigalle 120 by Christian Louboutin (obviously, I mean who doesn't recognise the red soles by now!) They are so high and utterly perfect and they do truly marvellous things to one's legs. I tried them on recently and had an internal moral crisis; it took everything I had not to run out of the shop with them on....not that I would have gotten far due to their sky scraper proportions! But they are very, very lovely, and they are a firm fixture on my Ultimate Shoe Wishlist (yes, there is one!)

La Moss wearing them well at her recent bag launch with Longchamp....

Perfect Red

How stunning is this look from the Chanel couture shows by makeup artist Peter Phillips?

A warm red lip with a nude eye is one of my all time favourite looks and as these shots show, it's a look that suits both brunettes and blondes. It's a winner, please try a red lip soon; you'll feel so glamorous and grown up!

Nudes

I love all the nude tones around of late in both makeup and fashion. The Christian Dior lip maximizer gloss in the nude pink is pretty, pretty...

This is my favourite nude lipstick of all time; Blankety by MAC. It's not too pale and not too beige so your teeth will still look white. It is so elegant with a wash of MAC satin taupe over the eye and lot's of mascara for a sex-kittenish look.

I have a big crush on this summers floaty silk blouses, so gorgeous over cropped, skinny black trousers and high heels. This one is from Topshop.

This blouse is so soft looking and would be so super sexy with some gorgeous underwear barely visible through the silk. This is from Elizabeth and James.

The Friday Freebie

My dears, we are having a technical hitch here at Ellie loves. Blogger isn't allowing me to upload pictures so todays Friday Freebie is a little late and a little devoid of pretty images.

I have one of Revlon's very nice Double Twist mascaras for one of you, you know what to do...comment below ( oh , and use your imaginations for the visuals!)

Happy, happy weekend.

What I Know About Brides

So it's one of the biggest days of your life, if not The Biggest. However, that doesn't mean that you should change who you are. That means looks-wise or personality-wise; there is nothing we makeup artists fear more than a Bridezilla!
I don't mean to be harsh but I believe that your wedding should be a celebration of you and your groom and all that you are together so try to leave the stress of the planning behind you and enjoy every second, it's only one day; you won't get it back.
When it comes to your styling, I think that you should be looking for the best and most romantic version of YOU, not someone else. Too many brides try to morph into some random celebrity on the day when that is not their style. Your partner wants to marry you, so aim to look like yourself not someone else! I have worked with brides who have changed themselves so massively via dieting, tanning, hair colours and even surgery and I can't help but feel that it's all a bit much.

When I am working with a bride I spend a lot of time perfecting her skin. The ever- elusive glow is what we're striving for. I keep the foundation light in texture but enough to control any skin issues she may have. When enhancing her eyes I always look for the shades that will make her eyes Pop, this means that we can see her eye colour looking vibrant rather than noticing the shadow too much. I use a light, matte bronzer to contour the face and a cream colour on the cheeks to get the blushing bride effect; it's so pretty and freshens up the face like nothing else.
The lips should match the cheeks for a seamless look that is elegant and timeless. I prefer not to use any trend makeup designs as they will date so quickly and will inevitably lead to cringing at the wedding album in years to come!

Some of the products I rate for bridal makeup are:

  • Armani Luminous Silk Foundation - perfect lightweight coverage that stays put
  • Clinique Airbrush Concealer - good coverage for shadows, light and non-cakey
  • MAC Select Sheer Powder - an invisible veil of sheer powder
  • Rimmel light matte bronzer - non-orange , low key bronzer ( a rarity)
  • Stila Convertible Cheek Colour in Peony - my ultimate cheek colour
  • Lancome Hypnose mascara (waterproof, natch!) - lengthening and volumising
  • Eyelure individual false lashes - less drag queen than strip lashes!
  • MAC lip liner in Whirl - a tone or two darker than lips
  • Lancome Juicy Tubes - Melon is a gorgeous shade and the perfect amount of pink
Remember, you are a romantic goddess for the day and you want to make your groom swoon, not gasp in shock!
