The Ballerina Project

When I was younger I was obsessed with ballerinas and used to love drawing them; I still have some of my notebooks filled with my doodles of them! That obsession is still within me, I just love the beautiful lines of a ballerina in a pose...so beautiful.
So when I came across these shots by The Ballerina Project I was quite excited!

The project is a New York collective that have come together to create some fine art photographs using their combined skills as fashion designers, photographers and dancers.

They are all shot in urban landscapes that use NYC as the backdrop and almost as a character within the shots.

They have such a modern grace...

I think this is an iconic image that could become one of those shots that ultimately everyone recognises. They sell the shots via their Facebook page and auctions on eBay.

The No-Brainer Lipstick

So this summer I've been wearing a variety of different lip colours from tangerine and orangey red to really nude according to what I'm wearing and how adventurous I'm feeling on the day in question. But I though I'd tell you about my fail safe, day off, easy -to- wear- and- always- looks -good shade!
Naked Paris by MAC is what I class as a no-brainer lipstick. It is a quite sheer, cool brown-ish shade that has a plummy undertone. It wears much lighter and more transparent than it looks in the tube so don't be put off. It has a few sparkles in it that are only visible when it starts to wear off and it's actually really pretty then!
When I'm running around after Lulu on a normal day or getting up really early to travel to a wedding I seem to have developed a bit of a uniform; stripey top, straight leg skinny jeans, flat black patent pumps and Naked Paris is very much part of this uniform.

Call it predictable, but sometimes it's good to have a no-brainer that just works...

Fancy Pants

Tomorrow Ivan has a day off and together we're going into therapy (retail, that is!) One of my first stops will be GAP to investigate their new Premium Pant collection that is launching for this season. Apparently they have designed the ultimate trouser shapes similar to the varied fits of their jeans. Above from left to right you have the Modern Boot, Really Skinny, Perfect Trouser and the True Straight Pant.

These are the Slim Crop which I have my beady eye on! I imagine myself in them with flats being veryAudrey Hepburn-esque by day and with fancy heels for night ( also on my shopping list)
Can't wait!

Pretty Rings

I was hunting through Etsy the other day which is one of my favourite places to browse for creative handmade jewllery and I saw these rings by Bloom Studios...aren't they lovely?

I really like these thin gold hammered bands...gorgeous for a wedding band or just stacked...

This unisex hammered gold band is cool too...perhaps for the groom?

Louis' Lovelies

I'm really drawn to the A/W campaign for Louis Vuitton. I love the old school elegance and glamour of the styling and of course the three supermodels Natalia Vodianova, Karen Elson and Christy Turlington. They were chosen for their beauty (obviously) but also to represent women in their 20's, 30's and 40's. Imagine looking as amazing as Christy in your 40's. Wow! She continues to blow my mind in every campaign she does. She is heaven to look at...

I'm also crushing on the makeup and hair styling. The makeup by Pat McGrath is so beautiful. I love the soft shading and contouring and the highlighting on the cheekbones and temples is divine. It is very much the style I try to emulate when I'm working; I'm not a makeup artist who likes to over-work a face or use really strong colour...less is best and luminous is lovely in my view! The eye makeup in this campaign is so elegant with no hard shading or eye lines...it's all about a soft wash of colour to enhance without taking over the face. Soft focus makeup lets your inner beauty shine through...it might sound naff, but it's the truth!

Sofia

Sofia Coppola. She is a style icon of mine; she is classy, talented, intelligent and truely beautiful. It seems she is a slightly reluctant star which adds to her appeal. You get the impression that she kind of laughs at the whole nonsense of celebrity.

Cool campaign for Louis Vuitton...

Androgynous beauty...

Chic personified...hats off to Sofia!
